Arguably coming up against the tallest side in the league Falkirk went down by five tries to three to currently second placed side Edinburgh Accies, who possessed a very formidable pack of forwards and a slick and pacy back division,at home last weekend.
Nevertheless the Sunnysiders can justly take due credit for their over all battling performance as they contributed hugely to a fast and entertaining encounter and no doubt at all won the respect of their adversaries. In fact for most of the opening quarter of the match it was Falkirk who were doing the pressing and it came as no surprise when they took the lead in the eighth minute. Pinning Accies in their 22 metre area the home side went through a series of five metre rucks before being awarded a penalty under the posts, which Harry Russell took quickly and from the ensuing ruck Full-Back Martin Hall broke through for the touchdown.
However the start of the second quarter saw the Capital City side begin to show their mettle when their Outside-Centre Paul Loudon made a clean break from Falkirk's ten metre line and ate up the ground before transferring to his co-centre William Stephen under the uprights for a try out of the blue in the 23rd minute. Using their forwards to telling effect Accies won clean ball from a touchline bordering maul near Falkirk's 22 metre line with their Open-Side Flanker Jamie Sole, son of 1990 Grand Slam Captain David breaking through for the visitor's second try very nearly on the half hour mark. Stand-Off Ben Appleson converted both tries.

Alas for Falkirk they must have thought that the roof had caved in about them in the opening fifteen minutes or so because during that period Accies went on to score three tries. The first came about one minute into the second period from a five metre lineout when Lock-Forward Neill Aitken paved the way for a try from Number Eight Tom Drennan. Nine minutes later Accies pack were yet again in the ascendancy when Prop-Forward Clement Lacour crashed over from a ruck under Falkirk's posts and very shortly afterwards a powerful break from Scrum-Half Alex Glashan saw him run in unopposed for a touchdown from just outside Falkirk's 22 metre line, with Appleson converting the last two tries.
Undaunted and to their credit, Falkirk countered admirably, five minutes later when their forwards got the upper hand from a ruck near Accies' line with young Prop Forward John McKenna barging over for a well-earned and his first of the season try, which Liam Brims duly converted. The closing spell of the match proved to be a pretty eagerly contested affair until the last minute of regulation time when Falkirk's Number Eight Jake Eaglesham added his side's third try of the afternoon.
