Although not doubting the physical effort and endeavour put in by both sides Falkirk still emerged as worthy victors over Musselburgh at Sunnyside last weekend in a match that never really took off as visible spectacle was concerned, especially after such a promising start from the home side.
However, Falkirk took the game to 'Burgh from the kick-off, and after going through a series of promising phases of play their forwards were soon pressurising their opposites on the five metre line near the corner, from where the ball was speedily swept out to the back division, who handled well for Right-Winger Kyle Rowe to canter over for the opening fifth minute try. Keeping up their momentum Falkirk were on the charge just five minutes later when a neat break from Stand-Off Liam Brims from his own ten metre line saw him transfer to Full-Back Craig Robertson, who in turn put in a neat chip kick for Left-Winger Gregor Ramsay to latch onto and dash the remainder of the field unopposed for a well worked team try. Liam Brims converting both tries,

Again showing a bit of enterprise Falkirk opened the second period brightly when a typical pugnacious break from midfield from Andrew Hamilton saw him make good ground before kicking to the corner for young Gregor Ramsay to take possession and storm over for his brace of tries in the 46th minute, with Brims presently adding the conversion.
Alas Falkirk then lost the services of their Number Eight Jake Eaglesham for ten minutes when he was yellow carded in the 53rd minute and Musselburgh's only points came from a Penalty try awarded two minutes later, which was converted by Scrum-Half Danny Owenson.
Unfortunately the game then seemed to flatten out with Falkirk in particular showing some concern that they did not go on to score more tries and at the very least earn themselves a bonus point.
