Putting in another all round efficient and workmanlike performance and taking advantage of the border side's indiscipline, Falkirk quite clearly were the better side throughout the entirety of the match as they comprehensively defeated Selkirk on a dreich and wintry afternoon last weekend.
Originally this fixture was due to take place on the main Philiphaugh pitch with a 3.00 p.m.kick-off under lights, however after a pitch inspection by the Referee and both Captains it was decided to play the match on an alternative ground across the main road. Belying the unfavourable weather conditions and slippery surface Falkirk immediately took the game to Selkirk, driving them back into their 22 metre area from where they were awarded a penalty, which Scrum-Half and Captain Harry Russell took quickly and sent Left-Winger Jacob Adamson over and under the borderers' uprights for an early 2nd minute try.
However ,after he dotted the ball down Adamson was hit late on the deck, with the Referee having no hesitation in awarding Falkirk a penalty on the half-way line, with Liam Brims's long range penalty attempt just falling short. Alas for the home side there was more controversy and woe just six minutes later when their Lock Forward Andrew Renwick was Red-Carded for flattening Brims in a blatant late tackle off the ball.
Showing their desire to run the ball at every opportunity and refusing to be intimidated, the Sunnysiders launched another surge and as the border side unsuccessfully tried to clear a loose ball near their line Adamson was up to take full advantage by crashing over for his brace of tries, with Brims converting both and the same man then went on to convert a further penalty not long afterwards for a half time lead

As it turned out the whole of the third quarter remained scoreless until the 65th minute when the man with the whistle awarded Falkirk a penalty try, after our forwards had their opposites in all sorts of trouble in a driving scrum on their five metre line, with Falkirk's scrum about to score, the Selkirk flanker detached and kick the ball out, Brims slotting over the conversion.
In deteriorating conditions Falkirk still kept plugging away for the bonus point awarding try and following further good lead up work, a neat chip kick to the corner from Brims was latched onto by Full-Back and Man-of-the-Match Craig Robertson who then squeezed his way over for the touchdown in the 71st minute. Selkirk persevered well and were rewarded with a consolation converted try in the 81st minute.
