Putting their superb second half display against Howe of Fife very firmly in the shade an absolutely magnificent and sustained performance saw Falkirk most deservedly take the spoils by defeating previously unbeaten Dundee H.S.F.P. on a scorching Saturday afternoon at Mayfield last weekend.
In a closely contested opening quarter, if there was any lingering doubts at all about Falkirk's positive attitude then they were pretty quickly dispelled for in the opening scrum, Falkirk lifted High's front row clean off their feet and Stand-Off Liam Brims set his stall for the day with an early lengthy break from deep inside his own half. However after Brims opened the scoring with a 20th minute converted penalty, in an amazing six minute period, firstly High's Inside-Centre Tim McKavanagh was yellow-carded for a blatant late body check on Brims, who converted the resultant penalty in the 23rd minute and just four minutes later the home side's Full-Back Blair Cochrane was also sent to the bin for ten minutes for tackling Martin Hall in mid air. Alas for Falkirk, the yellow card fever also extended to them as Outside-Centre Angus Rennie was penalised in the 28th minute.
Extending their lead in style a miss-move on Dundee's ten ]metre line saw Scrum-Half Harry Russell switch the ball to Inside-Centre Andrew Hamilton who then neatly side-stepped and bulleted his way through for a touchdown under the posts, which Brims duly converted in the 32nd minute. Countering almost immediately afterwards High responded admirably when their Right-Winger Isoa Matacagi latched onto a midfield cross kick and showed a clean pair of heels by rounding the posts, with Stand-Off Ewan Fox adding the two points. Nevertheless Brims converted a further late penalty for Falkirk.

Paying the price for not finding touch with their clearance kicks Falkirk were punished when Fox ate into their lead by converting back to back penalties in the 47th and 52nd minutes respectively. However after Brims converted a further penalty in the 65th minute a mesmerising break by the same man, just two minutes later, saw him put in an accurate angled kick to the corner with Winger Jacob Adamson winning the race for the touchdown. Falkirk's number ten then went on to convert a 73rd minute penalty for the visitors, but an immediate response from High saw former Scotland Stand-Off Phil Godman chip to the corner for Christy O'Donnell to crash over for an unconverted try.
Showing their trademark determination and tenacity Falkirk finished off the encounter in style when Rennie made a powerful break for the line, from just outside High's 22 metre line, before transferring to Adamson who in turn sent Russell gleefully diving over in the corner. Brims converted both second half tries as well as receiving the Man-of-the-Match-Award in the clubhouse afterwards. Without any question of a doubt this was Falkirk's best performance to date from the whole squad and if they continue on this vein then most surely they must be a force to be reckoned with.
