Knowing that they had unofficially already won promotion to BT National Division 1 next season Falkirk put it beyond any doubt at all with another very hard fought win, in their last league fixture of the current season, over a gritty Cartha/Queens Park side at Dumbreck Road Glasgow last weekend, and despite the fact that they had to withstand a late spirited surge from the home side. Commencing the match brightly Stand-Off Liam Brims converted a penalty for Falkirk with only two minutes on the clock as they probed to expose any weaknesses in their opponents defensive wall. However with honours even after fifteen minutes of play Scrum-Half Harry Russell caught his opposite number napping when he snapped up the loose ball from the base of a scrum on Falkirk's 10 metre line and scampered away untouched for the visitors' opening try. Maintaining their pressure Falkirk put some impressive phases of play together deep inside C.Q.P's half before Brims took control, just outside the 22 metre line, when he weaved his way through with a mazy run for a well taken try in the 26th minute. Giving the Glaswegians little time to settle Russell then fed Right-Winger Jacob Adamson on half way,and in a touchline skirting break he sped in for a splendid oppertunist try in the corner just two minutes later, with Brims converting all three tries for a 24-0 lead. To their credit though C.Q.P. countered with a well executed try in the 32nd minute when their Left-Winger Tony Nyangweso crashed over in the corner with Stand-Off Wayne Burrows adding the conversion before Lock-Forward Ethan Paterson barged over from a five metre ruck for an unconverted try,one minute into first half injury time, for a half-time score of C.Q.P. 12 Falkirk 24. In a flurry of very early second period tries Falkirk's Full-Back Craig Robertson finished off a fine passage of slick handling with the bonus point awarding try in the 42nd minute only for C.Q.P.'s Scrum-Half Tommy Davidson to run in a countering try following determined leadup work just three minutes later. Shortly afterwards turn-over ball on midway enabled Russell to put Left-Winger Gary Dempsey storming up the touchline and showing a clean pair of heels for the touchdown near the cornerflag. Ramming their advantage home Falkirk then went on to add a further try from Robertson in the 63rd minute, with Brims adding two conversions for a seemingly unassailable lead. Alas the home side was not finished just yet as was demonstrated when a determined surge produced an unconverted try for Right-Winger Declan Goldie and the roof fell in for Falkirk in the 70th minute when, firstly Lawrence Miller was yellow-carded and C.Q.P.were awarded a penalty try one minute later, which was converted by Full-Back Graeme Docherty. Nevertheless although Falkirk finished off the game under pressure they held out for a deserved win at the end of the day.
