Although Cartha/Queens Park have two games in hand to Falkirk's one and theoretically, but highly unlikely, still capable of qualifying for promotion,Falkirk more or less booked their place in BT National League Division 1 next season after an extremely hard fought and bruising encounter over fellow promotion seekers Aberdeenshire at the Woodside Sports Complex last weekend, with the Referee adding an amazing 11 minutes of injury time in the second half. Knowing that they were up against tough and determined opposition Falkirk got off to a great start in the 8th minute, following sterling driving play from their forwards inside 'Shire's 22 metre area, when Inside-Centre Andrew Hamilton made a powerful break and burst through for a try under the posts, with Stand-Off Liam Brims promptly adding the conversion. However, just six minutes later,Falkirk were again on the attack and looking threatening deep inside 'Shire's half but alas a pass to Gary Dempsey went astray, with 'Shire's Full-Back Adam Blake putting his boot to the loose ball and taking full advantage by fly hacking on for a try under the uprights, which Stand-Off Mark Ryan duly converted. Countering admirably Falkirk regained control at the end of the first quarter of the match, and in a very similar vein to their opening try,Hamilton yet again used his power and pace to a telling effect by scything his way over for his brace of tries, with Brims slotting over the conversion. Having none of it though the home side just kept probing away, and although Falkirk's defence was sound,Ryan put in a neat kick to the corner for Winger Luke Taylor to latch on to and scamper over for a 76th minute unconverted try. Nevertheless Falkirk replied in kind shortly afterwards, when after fighting their way down to 'Shire's 5 metre line near the corner flag, Brims accurately kicked to the opposite side of the pitch for Jacob Adamson to take possession and dive over for the touchdown for a half-time score of Aberdeenshire 12 Falkirk 19. A sensational start by 'Shire, within two minutes, saw them cut Falkirk apart and level the scores when their back row laid the foundations for another quick silver try from Luke Taylor and a Ryan conversion. However Brims then went on to convert back-to-back penalties not long afterwards to nudge Falkirk ahead, but yet again the home side retaliated nine minutes later when a quickly taken throw in gave Taylor the space to storm over for his hat-trick. With the score now at 25-24 in Falkirk's favour, and the travelling supporters'nerves in tatters, the visitors had to wait till the 77th minute before Scrum-Half Harry Russell jinked over from a five metre maul to ease the tension and Brims converted from wide out. Incredibly, after an amazing ten minutes of injury time and with 'Shire encamped in their 22 metre area Jacob Adamson intercepted an attempted pass and sped the remainder of the field for a sensational oppertunist try.
