This fixture was brought forward from the scheduled 13th February 2016 to avoid a clash with the Wales V. Scotland International in Cardiff and because of the Rugby World Cup Tie between Scotland and Samoa at Newcastle it was decided to play the match under lights, with a 7-30p.m. Kick-Off,at Lasswade's impressive Hawthornden facilities in Bonnyrigg last Friday night. Sensationally Falkirk got off to an absolute dream of a start straight from the starting whistle, following a Lasswade knock-on and three phases of play, when Lock-Forward Johan Wagenaar took possession of the ball just outside the home side's 22 metre line and gleefully waltzed through a hugh gaping hole in Lasswade's defensive line up for an easy try under the posts, which Stand-Off Liam Brims duly converted. The same man then went on to convert a penalty just seven minutes later for Falkirk as they proceeded to put some promising passages of play together, but very unfortunately and on far too many occasions for their own liking they let themselves down badly in the handling department with far too many spilled passes. Lasswade,to their credit, were a very industrious outfit and tried to breech Falkirk's defence on several occasions but the visitors worked extremely hard in keeping their line intact. Half-Time Lasswade 0 Falkirk 10. Following a scoreless third quarter Falkirk finally clicked into gear on the hour mark, when from a 5 metre line out and rolling maul Scrum-Half Harry Russell scampered through for an unconverted try. However in a hectic closing ten minutes or so spell Lasswade scored their only try of the match in the 73rd minute when Number 8 Donald Hearn got the touchdown from a formidable push-over try which Right-Winger Andrew Hall converted. Countering presently Brims converted a further penalty for Falkirk in the 76th minute very shortly before the match was sealed when slick handling from the backs saw Right-Winger Gordon McGuire neatly kick ahead and gather the ball for an opportunist try in the corner, with Brims accurately from the touchline. Although this was a comfortable win for Falkirk at the end of the day it also has to be said that they left a good few tries on the field had their finishing been more clinical.
