An absolutely scintillating display of all out fifteen man attacking rugby saw Falkirk comprehensively demolish Glasgow side Hillhead/Jordanhill at home last weekend, and maintaining their current impressive home record in style.Stand-Off Liam Brims converted a 7th minute penalty for Falkirk only for Hills Scrum-Half and Captain Alasdair MacFarlane to reply in kind some six minutes later. In fact for the whole of the first quarter of play the Glasgow side had by far the bulk of possession and it was only through resolute defending from Falkirk which kept them contained in their own half. However after weathering that storm the Sunnysiders began to get some decent possession of the ball themselves, and they most certainly made good use of it. Four minutes into the second quarter the home side surged into Hills' 22 metre area looking very menacing indeed, with Right-Winger Jacob Adamson coming in off his berth, before a long pass was transferred to Full-Back Craig Robertson, who then run in Falkirk,s first try wide out. Not long afterwards, and from a very similar build up and position on the field, following intense pressure from the home side's forwards,Robertson was again at hand to take a pass from Brims and scamper over for try number two, with Brims duly adding the conversion. Incredibly, just two minutes from the end of the half, that self same scenario was fought out for the third time in so many minutes, when several attempts by the forwards to score from a five metre ruck under the posts were all grounded short, the ball was switched to the back division for Robertson to race over for his hat-trick of tries with Brims' conversion attempt agonisingly striking the left-hand upright and bounce the wrong way for a half-time score of Falkirk 20 Hillhead/Jordanhill 3. Getting off to the best possible of starts Flanker Angus Inwood charged over from a five metre ruck, within one minute of the restarting whistle, for the bonus point awarding try following an interception by Brims on Hills' 10 metre line. However the Glasgow side managed to contain their opponents for a fairly lengthy spell before Craig Robertson finished off a Falkirk breakout with his 4th try in the 68th minute, which was presently followed with further tries from Harry Russell,Jacob Adamson and Graham Gilliland and Brims added four conversions. In the clubhouse afterwards,as news came filtering through,it turned out to be a triple celebration as the 2ndXV were triumphant over Dundee Medics by 31-20 at Dundee and the 3rdXV defeated Whitecraigs Rhinos by 22-20 at Newton Mearns, and further success followed the next day when Falkirk's Ladies U-15 side won their first ever home game by defeating their Livingston counterparts by 72-12.
