Poor distribution and lack of discipline came back to haunt Falkirk as they deservedly went down narrowly to border side Biggar at Hartreemill last weekend,in fact it could arguably be said that Biggar seemed to be the keener side throughout the entirety of the match. Prior to the commencement one minute's silence was respectfully and movingly observed in memory of the innocent people who were cruelly murdered in the barbarous atrocity carried out in Paris the previous Friday evening. Getting off to an absolutely disasterous start in the opening minute Falkirk appeared to be handling the ball well, but alas one awry pass to nowhere gave possession back to Biggar, and before Falkirk knew what hit them Outside-Centre Robbie Lavery waltzed in for the opening try, which was converted by Stand-Off Hendrick Francois Nel. Countering presently Falkirk won some hard fought territory which enabled Stand-Off Liam Brims to slot over a penalty conversion in the 10th minute, but unfortunately two minutes into the second quarter, with Falkirk pressuring near Biggar's five metre line, Brim's long pass to the corner was intercepted. Racing fully threequarters the length of the pitch Biggar's back division took full advantage, but credit also has to be given to both Falkirk Wingers Gary Dempsey and Gordon McGuire for covering back and putting in some sound tackling, but alas the ball was transferred to Inside-Centre Graeme Jamieson for the touchdown with Nel promptly adding the conversion. However Brims,no doubt stung into action, made amends in the 34th minute, following sterling lead-up work from the forwards in Biggar's 22 metre area, when he made a lovely break for a well taken try near the uprights, which he duly converted himself for a half-time score of Biggar 14 Falkirk 10. In a dourly and very keenly contested second period of play both side's defences prevailed and the only scores came from a 47th minute penalty conversion from Brims, with Nel replying in kind for Biggar in the 74th minute.
