For the second week running Falkirk pulled out all the stops with an absolutely overwhelming rout over Ardrossan Accies at Sunnyside last Saturday afternoon, notching up five tries in each half in the process. Liam Brims converted back to back penalties in the opening ten minutes or so before Stewart McCulloch crashed over from a five metre rolling maul for the first try very shortly afterwards. Two minutes into the second quarter Lock-Forward Craig Hamilton won clean possession from a line out on Accies five metre line, and peeling round the front, the big fellah then sent Hooker Stuart Govan in for a try in the corner. However,as things turned out and following a break from Brims in the visitors 22 metre area, Craig Hamilton was at hand to take the scoring pass and barge over for Falkirk's third try in the 32nd minute. Presently, after relentless pressure by Falkirk's pack of forwards,Number 8 Angus Inwood showed some neat footwork before jinking through for the bonus point awarding try,and Right-Winger Gordon McGuire then ran in try number five deep into injury time following excellent retrieval work from Gary Dempsey. Stand-Off Brims added four conversions and Accies only reply was two converted penalties from Inside-Centre Jack Anderson for half time score of Falkirk 39 Ardrossan Accies 6. Continuing in their dominating form, and showing no quarter,Falkirk then went on to run in further tries from Gary Dempsey,Andrew Simpson,Stewart McCulloch,Andrew Hamilton and Graham Gilliland with Brims slotting over three further conversions. Accies points came from a 54th minute interception try from Stand-Off Alan Wilson and an injury time push over try which was converted by Jack Anderson.
