In a fixture very reminiscent to their recent Friday night game against Lasswade Falkirk left it until the very last minute to finally seal victory, after surviving a late second half onslaught, over Hillhead/Jordahill at Hughenden,Glasgow last weekend. However,to their credit, they did commence the match with a very positive attitude when Stand-Off Liam Brims converted a penalty in the 4th minute, and just five minutes later as Falkirk surged into 'Hills 22 metre area, the same man made a neat break before jinking in under the posts for opening try, which he duly converted himself. Impressively Falkirk then proceeded to run the ball straight back at their opposition from the restart and Full-Back Craig Robertson then sent Right-Winger Gordon McGuire in for a very well taken team try, with the ever dependable Brims adding the conversion. Countering presently 'Hills then proceeded to fight their way into Falkirk's last quarter of the field, and from a five metre ruck Number Eight Theo Nwoso-Hope crashed over in the corner for an unconverted try in the 22nd minute. Following a fifteen period of virtual stalemate Falkirk closed off the half with another well-worked try, in a very similar vein to the build-up to the earlier Brims try, when from a ruck in the corner the ball was speedily transferred across the pitch for Gordon McGuire to run in an unconverted try in the opposite corner for a half-time score of Hillhead/Jordanhill 5 Falkirk 22. Alas, with Falkirk having a bright start to the first half, they most certainly had an absolutely disasterous beginning to the second period when firsty Stewart McCulloch was yellow-carded in the 49th minute for a high tackle, and eight minutes later,Matthew Tweddle was perhaps very unlucky indeed in being also yellow-carded for the same offence. However Falkirk did manage to keep their line intact during that period of operating short staffed, but 'Hills did mount a late surge when Craig Bryson barged over from a ruck under Falkirk's posts in the 73rd minute, with Scrum-Half A.J.McFarlane adding the conversion and Full-Back Robbie Dwyer rounded Falkirk's posts for an unconverted try two minutes later. Stung into action in the closing seconds Craig Robertson broke blind from a scrum on half way and sent McGuire speeding away up the touchline, before he cut infield and transferred to McCulloch who then stormed in for Falkirk's bonus point awarding try, with Brims slotting over the final conversion.
