Trailing at the break by three tries and a conversion to four converted penalties, and with Aberdeenshire looking to add to their domineering first period display,an absolute magnificent second half from Falkirk saw them knock the Granite City side back on their heels, scoring an impressive five tries in the process at Sunnyside last weekend. Commencing brightly and going through several promising phases of play Falkirk took the game to their adversaries, with Stand-Off Liam Brims converting a penalty in the 15th minute. However, just five minutes later, a surge from 'Shire's back division saw them sweep dangerously towards Falkirk's 22 metre area, before chip-kicking ahead for speedy Right-Winger James Paterson to get the touchdown near the cornerflag, with Stand-Off Adam Blake adding the difficult conversion. Striking when the iron was hot,and before Falkirk knew what hit them,a powerful break from Inside-centre Jason Laurich, from just outside Falkirk's 22 metre line, saw him expose some weak Falkirk tackling for a well executed unconverted try in the 26th minute. Nevertheless Brims kept Falkirk in contention with back-to-back penalty conversions in the 32nd and 36th minutes respectively, and when 'Shire's Flanker Bradley Fraser was yellow-carded two minutes later,he duly slotted over his fourth conversion of the half. Not to be outdone though 'Shire countered strongly when after a strong pugnacious run, skirting the right hand touchline, from Prop-Forward Andrew Cook the ball was swiftly transferred to the opposite side of the pitch for Adam Blake to dot the ball down in the corner deep into first half injury time for a half-time score of Falkirk 12 Aberdeenshire 17. Knowing that they were up against tough opposition Falkirk responded magnificently after the break and were soon on the charge when following a neat break from Brims in the visitors 22 metre area Outside-Centre Graham Gilliland took possession and charged over near the uprights for Falkirk's first try in the 49th minute. Shortly before the end of the third quarter, with Falkirk again threatening 'Shire's try line,Full-Back Craig Robertson was high tackled in the act of scoring a try and the Referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty try. Keeping up the pressure, from the re-start,Left-Winger Gary Dempsey took an inside pass from Hooker Stuart Govan on his own 10 metre line and just left every defender trailing in his wake as he scorched in unopposed for a superb individualist try. Giving the Aberdonians little time to recover Falkirk then went on to increase their tally, just three minutes later when Kris Burney broke clear away from a short penalty before feeding Stewart McCulloch, who in turn then sent Johan Wagenaar in for the bonus-point-awarding try. Brims then converted a penalty on the 70th minute mark, shortly before the visitors countered with an unconverted try in the corner after concerted pressure on Falkirk's line. However the Sunnysiders were not finished just yet as with the final whistle imminent Stewart McCulloch broke from the base of a scrum, about 30 metres out, and sent Harry Russell scampering his way through for the closing try, with Brims also adding three second half conversions.
