Coming off second best yet again another extremely disappointing afternoon saw Falkirk go down to Cartha/Queens Park,as they deservedly took the spoils in their second league encounter at Sunnyside last weekend. Fielding their newly arrived Durban based Open-Side Flanker Matthew Tweddle Falkirk took an early lead when Stand-Off Liam Brims converted an early 5th minute penalty,only for C.Q.P.'s Full-Back Graeme Docherty to reply in kind ten minutes later to even up the scores. However almost immediately afterwards Falkirk built up an incisive attack inside C.Q.P.'s half,with Inside-Centre Andrew Hamilton making a forceful break near his right hand touchline,before putting in a neat chip kick ahead, with Scrum-Half Harry Russell following up in support to take possession and scurry over for an unconverted try. Striking back just seven minutes later the Glasgow side most certainly showed their mettle when they subjected Falkirk to a sustained period of pressure in their 22 metre area,with their Number 8 Peter Hollier bursting through at pace for the touchdown, and agonisingly for the visitors,the conversion attempt struck the upright and bounced the wrong way. The Match was then very keenly contested indeed for the rest of the half until,unfortunately for Falkirk Cole Ronald was yellow carded for a high tackle in the 43rd minute. Commencing the second period brightly a breakout by Falkirk from halfway saw some slick interpassing down the left hand touchline before the ball was kicked ahead for Russell to gather the loose ball and cruise through for his brace of tries. Alas,with Falkirk already one man down,the roof fell in for them just four minutes later when Gordon McGuire was also yellow carded for illegally taking a man out in the act of scoring a try,with the Referee subsequently awarding a penalty try and Docherty converted to tie the scores at 15-15. Brims then put Falkirk temporarily ahead with a converted penalty in the 56th minute shortly before the Glaswegians finished off another passage of intense pressure when Outside-Centre Andy Scott rounded Falkirk's posts for a well deserved try. Attempting to claw back the deficit Falkirk went all out in the final quarter but the visitors,it seemed,always had that cutting edge and sealed victory in the 78th minute when Flanker Chris Wicks barged over from a ruck,with Docherty converting the last two tries.
