An over all excellent team display saw Falkirk comprehensively dispatch currently second placed side Hamilton by six tries to three at Sunnyside last Saturday afternoon,no doubt using their previous disappointing narrow home defeat against Kirkcaldy as a spur. Although Logan Bonnar converted an early 7th minute penalty for Falkirk, it was in fact Hamilton who subjected the home side to a torrid fifteen minute spell of all out concentrated pressure. However Falkirk put up the shutters and all Hamilton had to show were two back-to-back penalties from Stand-Off Owen McLeish in the 18th and 25th minutes respectively, before Bonnar replied in kind shortly afterwards with two penalty conversions, within three minutes of one another, following great runs from Jacob Adamson and Cole Ronald. Taking the bull by the horns Falkirk then surged their way deep into Hamilton territory, and after winning a lineout just outside the 22 metre line,Scrum-Half Harry Russell made an angular break and ran in unopposed for a fine opportunistic unconverted try for a Half-Time score of Falkirk 14 Hamilton 6. To their credit Hamilton countered admirably in the 49th minute when their forwards took control on Falkirk's ten metre line, with both Lock-Forward Jerry McKee and Flanker Andy Hill handling well before Right-Winger Craig Skilling ran in the try from the touchline, with McLeish duly adding the conversion. However in an almost immediate reposte Falkirk's forwards trapped their opposites on their five metre line near the corner flag and Cole Ronald snapped up the ball and crashed over for the touchdown. Six minutes later, with Falkirk's back division on fire,Graham Lindsay fed Benji Cottle on midfield before Falkirk's Outside-Centre made a scintillating, touchline hugging break and passed inside for Gary Dempsey to take the ball to under Hamilton's uprights for a superb team try. Keeping the pressure up Falkirk's backs again looked ominous as Bonnar took possession near Hamilton's try line, and quick as a flash Graham Lindsay came in off his berth to take an inside pass and race in under the posts in the 66th minute, with Bonnar converting the last two tries. Showing no quarter Benji Cottle, who arguably was the man-of-the-match,then proceeded to take the ball from the restart deep inside his own half and duck and weave his way through a bemused Hamilton defence for a brilliant individualist try,and he did not leave it there for he was on hand in the73rd minute making another fine break, before transferring to Jacob Adamson for Falkirk's sixth and last try. Without taking anything away from Hamilton whatsoever Falkirk must surely rue allowing Hamilton in for two converted tries, from Fraser Dunnachie and Craig Skilling and two Owen McLeish conversions,in injury time but they were deserved on merit.
