Recovering well from a pretty lack-lustre first half, and leading by a slender 6-3 half-time margin,Falkirk finally found their rhythm by running in four converted tries in the closing quarter of the match to secure a sound victory and a precious bonus point at a wintery Sunnyside last weekend. Looking the sharper outfit in the opening exchanges Accies settled the quicker and took the game to Falkirk and it came as no surprise when their Stand-Off Allan Wilson opened the scoring with a converted penalty in the 7th minute. Taking some time to find their feet and break down a stuffy Accies defence Falkirk struggled to find any cohesion in their play, mind you it has to be said that the frequent blustery cross-field icy snow squalls made handling very difficult for both sides. However Falkirk began to make some territorial gains later on in the half with Stand-Off Logan Bonnar converting back to back penalty conversions in the 26th and 34th minutes respectively for a 6-3 H.T.lead. The same man then went on to convert a further penalty for the home side, twelve minutes into the second period, shortly before Falkirk made some substitutions and positional changes, which seemed to do the trick. Putting some telling phases of play together Falkirk won clean ball from a scrum about 15 metres from Accies line, with Scrum-Half Harry Russell making a sniping break before Flanker Craig Varcoe took possession and scythed his way through for the touchdown. Ten minutes later Falkirk had their tails up under the visitors'posts, and following a lengthy period of pressure fellow flanker Stewart McCulloch snapped up the ball and broke over to dot the ball down under the uprights. Keeping up their momentum Falkirk just kept probing away at Accies line and they went on to increase their lead in the 75th minute when Full-Back Ciaran Wood finished off a fine passage of play with another try,and to put the icing on the cake Lock-Forward Lawrence Miller then made a fine touchline skirting break, from just inside Accies 22 metre line, for Falkirk's bonus point awarding try in the 84th minute, with Logan Bonnar converting all four tries.
