The dreich and dreary conditions in which this match was played, with constant rain squalls throughout, perfectly matched Falkirk's mood at the final whistle as they went down to their second league defeat in a row to a very tactical and sound Aberdeenshire side at Sunnyside last weekend. Although Falkirk could not be faulted for sheer physical effort and endeavour, try as they did, they just could not break down 'Shire's formidable and rock-solid defence, plus the fact that the visitors' positional kicking was very accurate for the duration of the match and they took their scoring opportunities when they were presented. Following initial early exchanges 'Shire seized the bull by the horns and surged into Falkirk's 22 metre area showing good handling skills when Right-Winger Sean Murchie made a half break before sending his very tall South African Outside-Centre Wiaan Griebenow in for an unconverted try in the 6th minute. However Falkirk countered well by mounting some promising phases of play, particularly so in the 22nd minute when the looked menacing on 'Shire's five metre line but alas the visitors' Full-Back Jonty Gray got his foot to a loose ball and fly-hacked it the length of the pitch, with the end result being a sickening lineout five metres from Falkirk's try line. 'Shire's Stand-Off Adam Blake then went on to convert a penalty in the 26th minute very shortly before he was involved in the move which led up to his side' second try on the half hour mark. Latching onto a neat cross kick from Blake Wiaan Griebenow took possession and charged on before being grounded, but from the ensuing ruck Scrum-Half Tom Kiwara broke blind before kicking ahead and winning the race to the loose ball for an unconverted try in the corner. Half-Time Falkirk 0 Aberdeenshire 13. In worsening light conditions 'Shire made a great start to the half when a powerful run from Sean Murchie, from outside Falkirk's 22 metre line, saw him scythe his way through for another unconverted try in the 48th minute. Harry Boyd then converted a penalty for Falkirk very shortly afterwards but Blake replied in kind for 'Shire in the 56th minute. Under increasingly darkening skies Falkirk strove to get some thing from a pretty disappointing afternoon and they were successful in the 78th minute when Number Eight Lawrence Miller crashed over from a five metre ruck for a consolation try.
