Taking some time to settle and get into their rhythm Falkirk eventually put in a competent, although not without a few hiccups along the way, performance to overcome Ardrossan Accies at Memorial Field last weekend. Setting their stall from the start Falkirk's pack of forwards took the game to their opposites and were certainly looking ominous, but for the first three or four rucks they carelessly lost control and turned over the ball. However they finally got it right in the 9th minute when Lock-Forward Cole Ronald barged over from a five metre rolling maul, with Stand-Off Logan Bonnar converting successfully after very narrowly missing two earlier penalty attempts. Taking some time to add to their score the visitors found themselves in the same area of the field as before, following some dogged lead up work from the forwards, and Number-Eight Lawrence Miller snapped up the ball and crashed through for the touchdown in the 33rd minute, and just five minutes later that same man was on the spot to take advantage of turn-over ball from a ruck close to Accies line, needing no second invitation to take possession and dive over the line for his brace of tries, with Bonnar converting both tries. Alas Falkirk were caught on the hop in injury time when Accies Right-Winger McKechnie outstripped Falkirk's fragile defence for an opportunist try, with Stand-Off Lewis adding the conversion for a Half-Time score of Ardrossan Accies 7 Falkirk 21. Commencing the half in a very dominant mood Falkirk increased their score, just seven minutes in, when in a carbon copy of his opening try Ronald certainly took no prisoners for his brace from a ruck in the bottom right hand corner of the pitch. Showing their mettle though Accies countered with a similar try of their own when Tight-Head Prop Blair got the ball down in the corner for an unconverted try in the 55th minute. There was no stopping Falkirk at this point though as they entered into a purple-patch, which was triggered off with a strong bullocking run from Kris Burney in Accies 22 metre area with Graham Lindsay taking the scoring pass and rounding the posts. Keeping their foot firmly on the accelerator pedal and driving their advantage home Falkirk went on to add further tries from Keith Slade,Cole Ronald and Logan Bonnar, with the same man slotting over two second half conversions.
