In preparation for a very tough and no doubt extremely challenging season in front of them,Falkirk entertained Giffnock -based side Glasgow Hutchesons Aloysians at Cala Park,Sunnyside last Saturday afternoon for a planned trial match involving four twenty minute sessions of the quality of rugby necessary to hone both teams skills for their forthcoming campaigns. Giving Falkirk the obvious oppertunity to field their new faces Jonny Hope,Finn Russell and Matt Gillillands, G.H.A. also paraded new signings former Scotland Centre Andrew Henderson and Ex-Glasgow Warrior flying machine Hefin O'Hare. However as things turned out only three sessions were actually played but they proved to be very competative indeed, with the first remaining scoreless and O'Hare scored a converted try halfway through second to put G.H.A. up by 7 points. A sparkling start to the last period saw Full Back Jonny Hope make good ground from his own 22 metre area before transferring to Peni Navu in the visitors' last quarter of the field before just being grounded short. Nevertheless Falkirk opened up their account shortly afterwards when an incisive break from Stand Off Finn Russell produced a try for Scrum Half Alan Bennie, and very shortly afterwards Bennie scuttled over for his brace from a ruck on G.H.A.'s 5 metre line. However the visitors struck back with another converted try,but presently the home side countered in style when another searing break from Russell paved the way for a try under the posts from Niall Lear, with Full Back Jonny Hope adding 3 conversions.
