Turning a lack-lustre and stale first half performance into a second period try fest Falkirk proved far too strong an outfit for Livingston at Almond Park last weekend in the first round of the BT National League Cup,with Stand-Off Liam Brims having a field day with the boot. Taking some time to establish themselves against a stubborn Livingston side Falkirk finally opened up their account in the 19th minute, when the ball was swiftly transferred from a ruck on the top left hand corner straight across the pitch to the opposite corner for Full-Back Craig Robertson to break through for the opening try and Brims added the very difficult conversion from the touchline. Seven minutes later further pressure from the visitors saw Flanker Gregor Brodie crash over for an unconverted try from a five metre line-out following a pugnacious break from Inside Centre Andrew Hamilton. Half Time Livingston 0 Falkirk12. Liam Brims converted a penalty for Falkirk in the 51st minute, just prior to the floodgates opening up for the Sunnysiders as they cut loose and fancy free. Scoring at regular intervals Craig Robertson went on to add a further two tries for his overall hat-trick with Andrew Simpson,Andrew Gillespie,Matthew Tweddle and Graham Lindsay all grabbing a try apiece, with Brims having an excellent day at the office by converting all six second half tries, and on reflection it was such a pity that he narrowly missed his second attempt at goal or else he would have had a 100% record.
