Remembrance events may be winding down but not for the Sunnysiders. The memory of the halcyon days of September and October when they ascended to the heights could well have been from a century ago. However since the clocks went back defeat has been their portion, although their opponents on each occasion have been good sides on top of their form. Last Saturday's visit to Bridgehaugh seemed a daunting enough prospect without the recent setbacks, but it is to Falkirk's credit that at no time did they yield to the power of their Premiership opponents. Early portents were not good for the visitors however,as they were soon behind to a try from James Cooper and a penalty converted by old Sunnyside favourite Johnny Hope, which was compounded by a yellow card to Gregor Brodie. All looked bleak but suddenly the depleted Falkirk ranks sprung to life. A hack on to the Stirling line was only thwarted by a timely interception from the home full back. Alas,on the stroke of half time all their promising play was as nought, when County scored a try courtesy of Hope to give them a 13 point cushion going into the break. After the resumption Falkirk continued to compete with their Premiership hosts but their only reward was a thirty metre penalty struck by Logan Bonnar. County bounced back with a vengeance and their forwards rolled over the line just after the hour mark, with Hope converting Fraser Lyle's touchdown. The die was cast ten minutes from time when Danny Gilmour sprinted over for County's fourth try. The visitors continued to compete to the end but failed to get into a position where they could create any threat on their host's line. This was defeat but by no means disgrace. This Weekend Falkirk have a free week before travelling to face Greenock Wanderers for another League encounter on the 29th of November. [This Match Report is attributed to Ross Strang]
