Update for the weekend 23rd March

1st XV
A bright and sunny spring day at Horne Park welcomed Dumfries RFC and a large lunching contingent for our appreciation day.
It was an equally bright start for Falkirk, scoring with their first meaningful attack, Connor Faulds breaking the line in midfield, connecting with Chris Lawson for Finn Call to score it in the corner. 5-0 Falkirk. Another score soon followed, Another break by Connor Faulds this time only needing Chris Lawson to gather the offload and power over. 10-0 Falkirk.
Dumfries managed to peg Falkirk back, a penalty in front of the posts for slowing down the ball, followed by a score in the corner leveling at 10 all. Falkirk scored again before the half, Dale Ashworth breaking off the back of a driven line out to take Falkirk out to 15-10.
The second half was all Dumfries, slick backs finding repeatedly finding space against a tiring Falkirk side. Despite the best effort Falkirk couldn't find a bonus point score, final score 15-41 to the visitors. Special mention to Aiden Waters, his first start for the 1st XV, and Najib Chaudhary making his debut from the bench, both rewarded for the continued efforts in training and the 2nd XV.

2nd XV
The 2s made the short trip to Stirling County to take on their 3s in the final game of the league season. Safe after 2 great wins in their previous games the 2s could enjoy their rugby and play without pressure against a strong county 3s including a few 2s and their u18s getting a taste of adult rugby.
Falkirk scores came from Andy Thomson making a welcome return from Australia, and Liam Edmond. It was tight at the break but in the second half the experience of County, paired with the energy of their young backs replacements, was too much for Falkirk. A final score of 61-12.

Ladies
Ladies training numbers are steadily increasing as they build to their first season in the leagues. Great feedback from the ladies with club president Bill Faulds stepping in to coach recently.
The ladies train on Wed evenings at the club starting at 7pm. All abilities are welcomed.

Kelpies Girls
The Kelpies u15 girls played away against Tayside and Fife, a great game of rugby with both teams playing some excellent attacking rugby which was reflecting in the 58-55 score line to the Kelpies. Well done girls.
