Final senior match of 2024/25

Falkirk travel to Lasswade RFC for their re-scheduled National League Div. 2 fixture

This time last year, these two sides were looking forward to the National League Cup Final at Murrayfield on Silver Saturday.

This year it's more a case of what might have been. Falkirk's defence of the League Cup ended after their previous outing at Howe of Fife, with the Wheels going out of the group stage on points difference to Kirkcaldy, despite securing a bonus point win in Cupar. In some ways, the 1st XV's cup form has summed up their season; a case of "could have, should have, but didn't".

Lasswade have already exacted revenge for their Silver Saturday loss, by winning the reverse league fixture at Horne Park 18-27 back in October. Despite being consistently inconsistent, a victory would see Falkirk secure third spot in Nat. 2 and end the season with nine wins vs. seven losses.

However, Lasswade will be fully motivated to do the "double" over their visitors, as relegation is still a possibility for them. The teams below them in the table, Newton Stewart and Preston Lodge, both play at home (against GHK and Kirkcaldy respectively), so there could be a few nerves as the Lasswade faithful keep an eye on scores elsewhere and their team try to secure at least the bonus point that would see them safe.

So, there's much still to play for and the Falkirk team would greatly appreciate your support for one last time this season.
